Magic Textbook Yaoguai-Nomicon
Type: Misc
This Yaoguai-Nomicon records the information of monsters you have encountered up to now. The more you know about them, the lesser they can damage you.
Kill more monsters to enhance the weakening effect
Source(s): Carried into dungeon with Bai Ze as main or soul-linked gumball

How it works

At skill level 5:

  • For each 15 kills of any given monster, you get one random effect in order from set A, B and C
  • Killing the BOSS 2 times gives you 2 effects (A & B). 2 more killings will give the C effect. Further killings of the boss give you one effect or upgrade per 2 kills.
  • Once a monster has 3 applicable effects, further killings of that monster will not grant a new effect but instead randomly upgrade the effect from set A or the one from set C.
  • You don't need to be credited with the kills.
  • Click on the book in your satchel to see the applied effects and how many times each monster has been killed during the run. Non-boss monsters only show in the book after 5 kills.
  • The effects do not show up on the monster descriptions, they only show up inside the Yaoguai-Nomicon
  • It is unknown if monsters that can remove debuffs can also ignore these effects
  • A simple S/L will change which effect is received.(Not sure if this requires to change the number of rounds/actions before killing the monster or not.)

Boss Effects

Once killed enough times, each boss will have 3 different effects, one from each of the sets A,B and C. Divine Dragon Wishes versions of the bosses appear to be treated like the normal bosses (there might be exceptions).

Regular Mobs Effects

Once killed enough times, each monster will have 3 different effects, one from each of the sets A,B and C (in order).

Most of the effects in each set seem to have an equal chance of appearing.

Notes

  1. Can only show up for monsters that do have a soul
  2. Probably limited so that only 1 monster per maze run can have this
  3. Can only show up for monsters that do have an hourglass, possibly limited to 1 monster per maze run. Seems to have a high chance of appearing.
  4. Chance around 5%, probably limited to 3 Gem per run and 6 Gem total.
  5. It is unknown if any resistance can reduce this
