Flagellant's Diary

The Flagellant's Diary is the key item for Flagellant's exclusive talent. Through it, Flagellant can select "paths of mortification" - that is, he can restrict certain game elements, losing access to them but gaining new benefits in the process.

All selections are permanent for the current run. In the case of mortifying equipment slots, you retain the effect of the items currently equipped - make sure you're wearing what you want before mortifying a slot, because you won't be able to change it later.

In the case of the diary used during Flagellant's trial, some options and pages are not available for use.

NotesEdit

  • All effects on this page reduce or increase both current and future stats. For example, if you mortify HP then gain a rank of Explorer, you will only gain 10 HP.
  • If attack has been mortified, the lightning bolt will strike a random enemy if the triggering attack kills the attack target.
  • The last mortification on this page is incorrectly described in-game. It does not reduce enemy attack - it halves your defense, which is the intended effect.

NotesEdit

  • Special title mortifications can be selected even if there is no way to gain that title on the current run. As such, it is wise to take Machine and Demon motifications immediately in most situations.
  • The restriction only prevents you from learning new titles, as mortification will not affect learnt/upgraded titles. Hence, there is no penalty for mortificating a title once it is fully maxed.
