Dodge is one of the in-maze stats of your Gumball as well as monsters and allies.
Dodge on Monsters[]
Monsters with a Dodge attribute have a chance to avoid your standard attacks.
Further details:
- It does not work against Spells
- It does not work against active skills
- It does not work against traps
- If a monster has a skill making it take damage for other monsters, it is the dodge of the target monster that is relevant, not the dodge of the monster getting the damage in the end.
Dodge on Gumballs[]
Dodge gives you has chance to avoid counterattacks as well as basic active long-range attacks from monsters.
The chance to avoid counterattacks thanks to Dodge is independent from the stat Chance to avoid counterattacks such as granted by the Novice Warrior Melee title and a few other effects.
The total chance of not suffering a counter-attack is:
Where C = "Chance to avoid counterattacks"
It is unclear exactly which long-range attacks are base and can be dodged but generally speaking:
- Active attacks from BOSS cannot be dodged
- Active attacks from regular monsters can be dodged
- Active attacks from unique non-boss monsters cannot be dodged
There can be exceptions...
Whenever you dodge an attack or counterattack, a brief "Miss" message will float over your gumball's image at the bottom of the screen. This message will not show up when it is "Chance to avoid counterattacks" that procs.
Max Dodge[]
Your gumball's Dodge is limited by the hidden stat Max Dodge.
The default value for Max Dodge is 30%.
The Dodge value displayed on screen takes the Max Dodge limitation into account.
Dodge on an Ally[]
Dodge on an ally will work like dodge on a Gumball. Some allies have a dodge stat of their own while others share the dodge stat of your gumball. They do not have a Max Dodge of their own but those sharing your dodge stat copy that value after it has been limited by your gumball's max Dodge.
See Ally for more details on how allies work.
Ignoring the Enemy Dodge[]
There are a few ways to improve the chances to hit a monster with a high dodge value:
- Bless : Gives 100% chance to hit when you do a standard attack
- Vampire Hunter's Potion: Reduces all monsters dodge by 15% (absolute)
- Sword Sage (Melee Titles): Reduces monsters dodge by up to 30% (absolute)
- Flagellant: By sacrificing half of your Defense stat. ("Defense" is the usual and old official name for "Reduce enemy attack")
- Bai Ze: completely ignore enemy's dodge
- Chef: Cooking recipes in Adventurer's Forest and Dracula's Castle
